Remember to send a copy of your acceptance letter to your Upward Bound counselor. The acceptance letter is the letter you receive from the college congratulating you on your admission. This is one of the requirements to attend the Educational Field Trip!

Upward Bound

Program Description

The QuESTT Upward Bound programs provide fundamental support to high school students in their preparation for college entrance. Both QuESTT Upward Bound programs provide opportunities for students to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves income-eligible high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

Services Provided by the Programs

  • Academic instruction in mathematics, laboratory science, composition, literature, foreign language, and computer literacy
  • Tutoring, counseling, cultural enrichment
  • Preparation for the ACT college entrance exam
  • Education and counseling services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy of students and parents
  • Information on the full range of Federal Student Financial Aid programs and benefits
  • Career exploration and aptitude assessment
  • Tutoring services
  • Information about postsecondary education
  • Assistance in completing applications for financial aid and college admission assistance in locating and applying for scholarships
  • Six-week simulated college experiences each summer that allow students to earn college credit through concurrent enrollment and participation in the Upward Bound Bridge Program. Tuition and fees for this college credit are provided by OSUIT.
  • Informational workshops for families of participants
